Combating extreme poverty and addressing climate change are two urgent matters that necessitate our collective focus. There should be no compromises between human well-being and climate action. In fact, climate concerns must take center stage in the realm of development, and sustainable development should form the fundamental path towards achieving climate solutions.
All five groups dedicated to climate solutions—Enhancing Agriculture and Agroforestry, Safeguarding and Rehabilitating Ecosystems, Adopting Clean Cooking, Providing Clean Electricity, and Promoting Equality—yield significant direct and indirect advantages for Human Well-being (HWB).
When implemented collectively, these solutions bring about transformative benefits in terms of Income and Employment, Health, Food Security, Education, Gender Equality, and Energy. These benefits are crucial for reducing poverty and enhancing resilience against current and future climate change.
Furthermore, the group focusing on Providing Clean Electricity presents strong co-benefits for Networks, while Promoting Equality fosters positive impacts on Social Equity, Peace, and Justice.
By adopting a comprehensive and integrated approach to climate action and sustainable development, we can forge a brighter future for both humanity and our precious planet.
